Amanda Underwood is a creative consultant, native North Carolinian and that rarest of all breeds, a Johnston County liberal. She thinks it was that time her mother set a Jesse Helms sign on fire when a neighbor placed it in their yard without permission that inspired her lifelong interest in politics.

Although she loves North Carolina, Amanda didn’t truly feel at home until she moved to Chapel Hill to attend the University of North Carolina, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science. After graduating, she worked in marketing for a small international software company and for a security contractor before taking a job with a political consultant. Those experiences, and the diverse skill set acquired along the way, inspired her to form Underwood Creative in January of 2012.

Amanda lives in Clayton with her husband, Daniel, and their two dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, reading the news, and making sarcastic comments.
