We all know that elections are won primarily based on the amount of bumper stickers and yard signs expressing support for that candidate. And since election year is in full swing, they’re starting to pop up everywhere. Here’s what I can report seeing in my neck of the Triangle:

*A “Hillary for Prison” bumper sticker (on Highway 64 heading east into Wake County)

*A few Bernie bumpers in the NCSU area. For some reason I’m guessing they’re more likely to be professors than students.

*At a gas station in Raleigh, a guy in a pickup with a big Trump sign on his rear window. Looked like your stereotypical version of a Trump supporter. And in front of him, a guy with an anti-Obama bumper. Not an Obama-friendly place to get gas.

*Driving through Cary – a big Bernie sign in someone’s yard. They must really feel the Bern to put up a big sign like that.

*At an upscale grocery store in Cary – a Ted Cruz/Tea Party bumper. And in the same parking lot, I saw my first Jeb! sticker. Two Republicans with very different candidate preferences. Did a double-take when I saw the Jeb bumper. (By the way, one of the interesting things of tonight will be seeing if Jeb gets a surge in support.)

*Signs for candidates are cropping up. The ones I’ve seen so far: Ron Elmer for State Treasurer, Buck Newton for Attorney General, Ellis Hankins for State Senate. I also saw a Nelson Dollar for State House sign – it was outside of his district, but right off the I-40 exit ramp so presumably it’ll reach a few of his voters.

*Several Roy Cooper bumper stickers – all in Cameron Village.

*Now, for what I haven’t seen. What’s most notable is the total absence of (sincere) Hillary bumpers – as in, the ones that don’t have the tagline “for prison.” Back in 2008/2012, Obama bumpers were everywhere. So what’s the deal? I’m just not seeing a whole lot of enthusiasm for Hillary.

*Not politics-related, but kind of eerie. Two cars passed me, both sporting license plate serial numbers ending in “4695”. What does it all mean?

I want to make a bumper sticker but the message is too big. Maybe two or three one below the other:

    1 Illegitimate Child
    2 Divorces
    4 Bankruptcies
    Family Values and Proven Competence
    DONALD TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT
    What could possibly go wrong?

Oh, haven’t you heard? President Obama is going to, declare martial law and cancel the 2016 election. I know this because Ben Carson and Tony Perkins said so! Where have you been?

Republicans are obsessed with Obama period. The good news is that there is a cure for Obama Derangement Syndrome and that is turning off Fox “News” and talk radio. The bad news is that Republicans are too addicted to both of those to be able to ween themselves off them, let alone go cold turkey.

But yeah, their fixation of executive orders is astonishing given that Reagan (genuflect) Bush the First, and Bush the Second each issued more executive orders than Obama has. But hey, it’s OK if your are a Republican.

Thanks for making me smile! Nicely written comment.

Due to my position as Union County Party Chair, I have refrained from putting Hilllary and Cooper bumper stickers on my car until after the primary. But I have them ready to put them on March 16th. I would already have one on for Thomas for the 8th, but I don’t think he has any as yet. But to answer your question, I’ve seen an equal number for Bernie and Hillary, a very few for Trump and even fewer for the other Republican candidates.

Both of my cars (and my golf cart) at Holden Beach are sporting “Ready for Hillary” bumper stickers. I think she’ll do very well in NC.
