Dem primary in NC-06

Well, it looks like Democrat Laura Fjeld has a primary opponent in the 6th Congressional District. Guilford County Commissioner Bruce Davis announced today that he will throw his hat into the ring. Davis has been trying to move up for years, losing three state Senate races in three cycles. This year, he’s a bit late to the party.

The district, currently held by retiring Congressman Howard Coble, is a sprawling configuration covering all or parts of 10 counties and divided between the Raleigh and Greensboro media markets. Fjeld has been raising money since mid-summer and, according to a recent press release, says she’s raised $275,000 so far. In his state senate races, Davis never raised significant money, including only $570 in his 2012 campaign.

Davis, who is Black, has also run against some of the Guilford County African-American establishment, challenging incumbent senators Katie Dorsett in 2008 and Gladys Robinson in 2012. He never really came close to winning. Guilford only makes up about 25% of the Democratic primary vote in the Congressional race.

Davis may give Fjeld an opportunity to test drive her operation next spring, but I doubt he will give her a run. The winner will face the winner of the Republican primary, a crowded field that includes Rockingham County District Attorney, Phil Berger, Jr., son of Senate President Pro-tem Phil Berger, Sr.

Who is Laura Fjeld besides a fat-cat lawyer?Bruce Davis was born and raised in NC. I cant find any info on Mrs. Fjeld’s upbringing except for a few vague references to being the daughter of two educators. Bruce grew up in a working class family. He’s served his country as a U.S. Marine and a Guilford county Commisioner. He’s brought jobs to Guilford County. We know him. Who is Laura Fjeld?

Who is Laura Fjelds, what has she ever done for the community for me to give her my vote. I know Bruce Davis as County Commissioner voted to bring jobs to Guilford County, and after serving 20 years in the Marine Corp., he is a big supporter for Veterans. She might have raised alot of money in orange county, but my vote is for the guy that has a track record for bringing jobs to the 6th District.
