Shots fired

Well, the Daily Haymaker, the right-wing gossip sheet, has some interesting news. It seems that Republicans believe Pat McCrory is trying to take out a group of GOP senators. Apparently, someone did “push polling” in several districts and that a GOP operative “close to Gov. McCrory” is recruiting someone to primary Senator Jerry Tillman.

The so-called push polls were done in the districts of Senators Tom Apodaca, Harry Brown, and Bob Rucho. All three senators have ridiculed McCrory. Apodaca called him irrelevant. Brown questioned whether McCrory thought he was “mayor of North Carolina or governor of Charlotte.” Rucho, a fellow Charlottean, has long sparred with McCrory, once mocking his business experience.

To be clear, the Haymaker article is long on innuendo and short on facts. The article never tells us what the so-called push poll said. It also uses unnamed sources to speculate about who commissioned the calls. And finally, there’s no evidence that the polls were actually push polls.

Quite often, organizations that want to collect legitimate information ask questions that cast someone in a negative light. Those aren’t push polls. Push polls don’t collect information. They call a very broad audience, instead of a sample of the population, and ask inflammatory questions with the intention of defining a politician negatively.

Regardless, the animosity between the senate and McCrory has turned into a very nasty public dispute. Both sides dislike each other and seem to want to hurt the other. McCrory must feel like a bit like a punching bag. He’s clearly losing the support of both the activists and the rising GOP establishment. He, more than anybody, wants to see the legislature go home.

As for me, yes, I will take butter on that popcorn.

A US representative from NC (Mark Meadows) wants to take down Boehner. Why work together when you can implode the party from the inside – at the federal, state and local levels?

I REALLY hope they can knock out Rucho! What an unpleasant man to even have to listen to.

As a teenaged clerk once said to me, “Dude, it’s NOT even butter.”

Yep, Republicans are angry with Governor who, according to the state Senate Majority Leader, “likes to go personally at people, and I resent it.”

McCroney is “tone deaf” and will say whatever it takes to get re-elected. Some say McCroney will begin pushing for the expansion of Medicaid just before the election.

    They’re delicious!
