Thomas, much can happen in 10 weeks. Both of us know what's coming: lot's of television ads for Whatley featuring Abul El-Sayed, and Zoran Mamdani, That will scare the rural Republican base out to vote unless prices continue to increase and President Trump does something to embrasures himself.
Frankly, I hope NC voters drown Donald trump and his maga stooges. Doing so might finally start to slow his momentum down even more. NC is only gerrymandered red. We truly are much more purple than trump or this nasty legislature would have people believe of ourselves. They’ve had their way with us for far too long. It’s past time Democrats and independents pull together to regain control so we can start working for the betterment of everyone, not just a few.
All well and good but the core NC issue is how much can Democrats cut into the Republican dictatorship in the Assembly. A Democratic majority in either chamber seems beyond reach with the current map. Is it? Which chamber could get closer? Does turnout have to get over 60 percent to get a majority in either? Can Cooper’s coat tails get them there at under 60 percent turnout?
Trump breaks from the old line of presidents. He says he acts for himself, not for the people, and they follow him anyway. Among some Republicans, he’s a pied piper, and they march behind him as if the tune were written for their salvation. One can only hope we’ve learned enough from this little fiasco not to walk that road again!

The truth is that high crime rates were real in the 1980s, but over the years, and both Dem and Repub administrations, have trended down. Rates are now 1/3 what they were, so why is neither party claiming credit, instead promoting the idea that crime remains rampant?. I've noticed I've started getting more "push polls" from Republicans and conservative PACs via text. These aren't from reputable outfits getting stats for one of these broader polls, but surveys designed to test campaign messaging.
They're easy to spot - they start out with something that looks like a general poll about the election, then quickly zero in on a particular race, offering "if you heard this about candidate so and so" questions about what would change your vote.
The only reason I respond to them (always with junk answers) is to see what lines of attack Republican candidates or conservative PACs are considering for ads.
Let's hope that the GOP continues to waste money on Whatley's campaign.
