I'd like to know what our NC elected officials are doing to protect the citizens of NC! I see northern & western states coming up with their own health care system since the CDC has been taken over by conspiracy theorists. I see Governors passing laws to not allow federal agents to wear masks etc. I've seen some people speak of states succession. While ICE in states kidnapping & abusing citizens which is illegal, the state can charge with a STATE crime! I'd like to see all democratic Governors & AGs make a public announcement TOGETHER.

The General Assembly is too powerful by design (going back centuries) for a governor to have much independence.

A brief counterpoint: Many of Cato’s top executives and public spokespeople —Walter Olson, Scott Lincicome (Raleigh resident), and Jeffrey Singer—are quite vocal opponents of Trump on more than tariffs, especially law enforcement excesses, immigration policy, military overreach, and legal usurpations. Now, if you’re looking for a prominent conservative group fully in Trump’s camp, then Heritage is the place to find the scum.

What weighs on me deeply is the growing indifference many Americans show toward their own government. Among certain GOP supporters—especially those pushing for cuts to vital public services and health care—there’s a troubling tendency to rationalize personal hardship by elevating their chosen leader to near-divine status. Loyalty becomes a shield, and faith is mistaken for immunity, as if devotion alone can rewrite reality.

Others choose silence, sidestepping confrontation out of fear. Their reasoning is simple: if you never meet a man’s gaze, he’ll never see you as a threat. This kind of passive detachment—whether born of blind allegiance or quiet avoidance—fosters a dangerous moral disengagement.

But this isn’t the legacy of our nation. Historically, we’ve questioned authority, stood up for what’s right, and used our vote to demand better. That spirit of civic courage is not just our heritage—it’s our responsibility.

Trump has quit trying to distance himself from Project 2025 and now embraces Russell Vought's blueprint for a fascist theocracy. That blueprint outlines the dismantling of our government and with it our democracy, which is the goal of all previous fascist authoritarian states. At the same time, corporations are both empowered and co-opted by the fascist state, just as Mussollini described, fascism as the merging of corporate and state power.

It's fascism, Thomas. The parallels with 1933 Germany are there. Thinking that the current ICEtapo occupations are part of his plan for election interference in Blue states and cities.

Trump Deranged souls such as Mr. Mills are so utterly tormented that they rabidly repeat false narratives. In this, his latest screed, he suggests Republicans are "downplaying" the death of a Minnesota legislator as if the murder was carried out by a crazed person wearing a MAGA hat. To the contrary, the gunman was a devout Never Trumper and "No Kings" protestor. And, out of nowhere, Mr. Mills characterizes what happened to a beach house owned by a South Carolina Democrat judge (it was consumed by flames) as a "firebombing" despite linking to a CNN report that clearly states that "the cause of the fire was not immediately known". As for January 6th "insurrectionists", does he include the hundreds of FBI assets embedded in the crowd at the direction of the Biden White House?

We're deranged? And you seriously believe that a house fire a few days after a comment from a Trump criticizing Judge... is just a coincidence?
