When they show you who they are, believe them. A lesson from Maya Angelou.

Trump, Carr, Bondi, Vance, et al, have all crossed the line into fascism. We need a leader to emerge that will unify us against them and restore our Republic.

Thomas—These people are no longer conservatives. They are radical regressives, and certainly morphing into fascists

If it walks like a 🦆. Talk like a 🦆. It must be a 🪿, because Trump and conservatives say it is.

Ladies and Gentlemen, that’s fascism in a nutshell.

Controlling what the people say and do since 1933 Germany.

OUCH! :-) but I'm in complete agreement with you.

With your permission I'll mumble on a bit 'bout the past several decades and how we "humans" communicate with each other. I infer from your argument that, as a species, many if not most of us, are pretty easily influenced by what we hear/see/read from our environment.

Gettin' a bit academic here: there's a substantial amount of research concerning human communication. For example https://online.utpb.edu/about-us/articles/communication/how-much-of-communication-is-nonverbal/ .

Take-away is it's likely way over 50% of communication is non-verbal. Means tone, facial expression, eye contact, body language etc. convey more to us than just words. Much more. 'Tis how we build trust.

Full disclosure: the first computer I learned to use was water cooled (in 1960 - a Univac 1105). Later I directed computer centers in the '70's (Boroughs 6700 mainframes). Wrote an incredibly boring piece on FORTRAN programming for the social sciences. Watched the Internet develop - and cell phones begin to replace conversations over coffee. BTW - your cell is several orders of magnitude more computing power than those mainframes :-)

However, as powerful as they may be, cells don't really replace old fashioned face-to-face. ZOOM (really any communications app) simply doesn't convey the depth of information (and its validity) that face-to-face communication does.

Those who get more of their information from "communicating" with Foxes or Truth Socials, not to be especially selective, may be a bit short on actual history. And as an immigrant, well - briefly in the US at the turn of the 20th century, - once pointed out, if ya' don't remember it, you'll do it again.

Anyone remember a fellow named McCarthy?

And, fascists suppress academic freedom, and diversity of thought in higher education. They coerce compliance to an ideology rather than acknowledge scientific inquiry. They withdraw funding from colleges and universities that provide research and social services that enhance health, safety, and quality of life. There is a rally on October 24, 2 o’clock in Chapel Hill, entitled, “Right to Light: A Rally in Support of Higher Education.” This is an opportunity to voice support for quality education, life-enhancing research, and public service provided by academic institutions, all which are adversely impacted by this administration’s policies.

To prevent a communist leftist state controlled media Republicans must control the media, to prevent them from infringing free speech they must control free speech, to make sure these leftist communists don’t seize the economy they must control it with expansive executive power, to make sure these leftist socialists never get a chance to control much less win elections the patriots must make sure they will never be competitive, the culture must fully conform to Republican principles so that it is not corrupted by leftist thought. Only when all opposition is silenced and all power is held by the “right” party will we be free from tyranny … right? Right?
