Brainerd is also known as being the setting for part of the Coen Brothers film Fargo (1996). Specifically it's where the first shooting victims fall when Steve Bescemi tries to "take care of this [ticket], right here in Brainerd".

Bemidji also has a connection to Fargo, but in that case it's the TV series (season two as I recall).

Here in the North Woods of Chatham County, we're expecting highs in the 70s today as well, but we needed an apocalyptic overcast and misting rain to get it. Glad you're having better luck!

MAGA country for sure. I don't believe these folks voted for Tim Walz

I wonder how Minnesotans are handling Trump’s federal spending freeze which destabilized Minnesota’s economy, jeopardizing $23 billion in funding for public safety, agriculture, health care, and social services. Governor Walz denounced the order as reckless and cruel, warning it endangers vulnerable communities statewide.

Years ago, I took an around-the-country trip on Amtrak. Our train was traveling east across the northern tier of states. I woke up just as we were pulling into the station at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. I looked out the window at one of the most beautiful vistas I think I'd ever seen.

Question from Australia: I have fond memories of college in MN. It seemed to me that ideas & fashions may originate on the coasts, but the Midwest kept the best of America. So my question is: How prevalent are red MAGA hats?
