Just to clarify: all the military & overseas voters were required by NC state law to provide either a NC DMV # or last 4 of SSN, which was verified as belonging to the voter before the voter could receive a ballot. NC law for military & overseas voters goes on to say no additional "authentication" is required. So all these voters did provide the verifiable ID info required. Consistent with federal law, no state required military/overseas voters to submit a picture ID with their absentee ballot in 2024.
Republicans are following Phil Berger ‘s lead. He thinks the NC Board of Elections will keep counting until it gets the results it wants, remember that quote. Berger’s son is one of those Supreme Court justices
I’m not sure how, but the first comment is the way to go - 60 minutes. If that takes too long and a decision is forthcoming before then, try the TV station you were on previously. If none of those areas work - you might try a letter to the editor at the News and Observer and, I think, this would be published in full due to the factual information you provided. I’m willing to help in any way I can.
I moved here five years ago after several visits, thinking North Carolina was not the "Old South." Now I know better. North Carolina is NOT a democracy. I won't be staying.
PoliticsNC has amassed clear and trustworthy political capital. This story is receiving national attention as it's a blatant reflection of how "all U.S. election rights and privileges" are being undermined. And, this one NC judicial election in particular, reeks of hostile, foul play among those who are daily at work to destroy all that is good about our state and our country. So, yes, use some political goodwill and connections accrued to get the national attention that a "60 Minutes" feature can provide. This is a bipartisan, election integrity story. If our current federal administration is so hepped up on ridding itself of abuse, fraud, and waste, why do those in seats of power keep creating "election" waste, fraud, and abuse? We know the answer. Some crave more power above and beyond anything else. Let's tell it OR get it told from a platform like a 60 minutes or some other big, worthy programming. Paraphrasing a bit: if the votes citizens cast CAN Be or ARE later in danger of being tossed, this is NOT a NC problem; this is another USA mess.
I was looking through the latest information on the Riggs-Griffin kerfuffle, and realized to my amazement that I could've very well been in the "final category" (the 267(?) votes cast by people who "never lived in NC")!
My parents were young missionaries who took me to Japan in a laundry basket, on an old freighter, in 1951. Dad was born and raised in Wilmington, Mom in Savannah... if they had opted to stay in Japan instead of coming back to the States 10 years later, I could've easily grown up in Japan and stayed there after that, already being an American citizen, but only visiting the US every few years for a few months.
anyway, I would've been in that last category of voter and frankly it seems pretty unfair to me that somebody who definitely qualified and identified as a North Carolina citizen could have their vote tossed even though there's a legal structure for that vote being valid!
So, I know we've got some larger categories of votes to deal with, but I would be happy to hear what the implications are going forward for the folks who are in that category, are they just totally disenfranchised now?

Thanks, Bob.
Thank you, Bob. You definitely know what's going on. What they are trying to do is illegal, plain and simple. Even some Republicans agree.
