Or how many of us realize the behavior of ICE folk sure seems modeled on similar actions taken by disguised pale, albeit almost entirely red-of-neck males. garbed/disguised in white rather than brown ... as recently in NC as the first of THIS century? One-fifty plus year of this kind of behavior, pretty much mostly in our region of the nation.
Only now, oddly enough, directed by/lead by the decedents of those who lead the country to small "d" democracy.
The Dems in safe blue districts that are voting with Republicans do it because they feel safe doing it. They don't feel like they're in any jeopardy, and they'll continue to vote that way until there's a legitimate primary scare (or they lose in a primary). And yeah, Don Davis is in a really conservative district, but unless NC 12 has shape shifted, I can't explain Alma Adams endorsing ICE.
And since you bring up Venezuela, would somebody please tell Ted Budd that if Maduro bathed in the blood of virgins, the authority for going to war rests with CONGRESS, not Exxon Mobil. And it was the *oil companies* that got read in on this op before it happened -- NOT Congress.
And Thomas, I wish you were right about people watching that video (videos, actually) and coming to the conclusion that it was a bad shooting. But I have seen way too many people that have somehow managed to do the mental gymnastics required to still blame the victim. I'm not sure how brain dead you have to be to believe that, but it's happening. I was in Pittsboro yesterday, at the ICE Out protest and encountered several such people.
But the other thing that nobody (else) has brought up (that I've seen) is that Renee Good was there conducting oversight on a rogue government agency. If we had a functioning Congress, they would realize that this is THEIR JOB. And if they'd DO it, she might still be alive. (Yeah, I've had thoughts on this one.)
Kristi Noem sat in a Congressional hearing and said *under oath* that ICE had not detained any US Citizens or any American veterans. And when she got fact checked on the spot with a Zoom call with an American veteran who'd been deported, she fled the meeting.
And Tom Homan can talk all he wants about "needing an investigation before we decide what happened", because he and everybody else knows what any investigation by this DOJH is going to conclude. Also, I think he walked that back almost immediately when Trump said what he did.
