Our state has been going downhill since 2010 when the NC GOP took over, using their faux 'pro business' propaganda that was a fig leaf for their true fascist nature. They will destroy what's left of our democracy for permanent single party rule by a white supremacist Christian nationalist regime.
Thomas, let's hope Berger, Hall and others have heard what happened in Georgia Wednesday where a 2028 US House Gerrymandering special session was called off. By now. they should know the SC Senate also decided not to Gerrymander James Clyburn's seat They can also (I think) read and see polling their Fuehrer (Trump) is under water badly. And please read Frank Fagulisi's Substack commentary I posted on my Facebook site.
North Carolina is not a functioning democracy. The state assembly is a dictatorial body that has given itself the power to dictate election outcomes by gerrymandering. Their power to do this is protected by a partisan (and nepotistic) “Supreme Court.” They have neutered the Office of Governor into irrelevancy.
Thank you for focusing on this. It is so frustrating and discouraging to see this happen. And happen. And happen. NC State AND WCU voting sites are canned, thanks to these disgusting power plays. As someone who volunteers for a good group that knocks doors and tries to flip NC General Assembly races that are potentially flippable, every single of these NC GOP moves is maddening. But this a.m., Sabato's Crystal Ball ran a good piece by Chris Cooper about NC 11's race, which you wrote about early on. Jamie Ager is looking very good in that race, despite all the map gerrymandering since 2011. https://sabatoscrystalball.substack.com/p/the-unlikely-district-that-may-signal
I long ago got over my surprise that Republicans would feel some shame about rigging politics to tilt the table their way. "Level Playing Field" is not part of their lexicon. The old football claim "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing" is only a responsible guide when teams play by the rules.

Ager is a good man and will be getting my vote.
Call it what it is: Disenfranchising Democrats. What was that about taxation without representation being tyrranical?
Maybe if Republicans had an agenda the people wanted they wouldn’t need to constantly make it harder to vote.
