Some of us are old enough to remember George HW Bush's running mate Daniel quayle. Democrats rushed to attack Dan Quayle, and it was completely useless. Democrats had Bush on the ropes, making fun of him. Remember Ann Richards? "Poor George, he was born with a silver foot in his mouth." But by attacking Quayle, Democrats let Bush off the hook. Republicans are in danger of doing the same thing with Walz. Let's hope they keep it up.

Harris has to continue to do this because somewhere along the line some of the criticism against her will start to land.

The media continues to give Trump a free pass despite evidence of being unhinged and detached from reality. His performance yesterday was spellbinding in how ridiculous what he said really was. Yet the headlines were muted.

Let’s keep the momentum going for as long as we can and have Harris build a lead that will carry her into Election Day.

Apparently Tim Walz seemed to be implying that he had been in combat while making a larger point about banning AR-15s which are weapons of war. Walz has never claimed to have been in active combat while discussing his military record. Perhaps a clarification is in order. Meanwhile it should be noted that J D Vance did one tour of duty as a Marine in which he sat at a desk in a tent in Iraq. J D never saw combat duty. Pete Buttigieg was at more risk in Afghanistan than J D was in Iraq.

The Republicans' desperate attacks on Walz and Harris are not landing. Even the conservative WSJ editorial board has posted that Trump seems determined to lose the election by picking fights with the Republican governor of GA and his wife and making ridiculous personal attacks. https://jimbuie.substack.com/p/kamala-harris-has-big-mo-will-it

Walz, for his part, is probably looking even better to women voters. The attack just highlights his commitments to students. He also signed legislation providing free breakfast and lunch for all public school students. He wants kids to go to school and be able to focus on education and activities while not worrying about basic needs.

You got that righ! White, male GOP legislators (plus the evangelical women) appear clueless when it comes to the rest of the women of America. Many still seem to think that the whole abortion thing will disappear off the radar. They are in for a rude surprise!! Also, the legislation he signed as governor that the MAGA are so incensed about sounds pretty good to ordinary middle and working class women!!

I was routing for Walz when he was mentioned as a potential running mate. I remembered the viral video of all the little kids piling on him (after he signed that bill for no-cost school meals) from when it originally came out when he signed the bill. How can your heart not melt after watching that video? He's a breath of fresh air and he "gets it".

False accusations and lies, lies, lies--have been too much of our political landscapes that we expect this. I'm sick of it. Yet that is the "ick" of politics. And much to my own disgust I've been feeling schadenfreude, I'll admit. But I will not allow that to stick as I feel a much deeper joy that surpasses an antisocial one, not that anything in this post or anyone who has responded mentioned this. As we know--and this is scriptural--a day is a thousand years; a thousand years a day. Certainly applies to politics. I still have strong intuition anything can happen. Radical, unpredictable kind of stuff. Especially as we witness the full range of raw emotions that this political time elicits. Thank you PoliticsNC for keeping it clean and trustworthy and for fellow readers and responders because ya'll keep me going.
