Regarding Hudson and the 9th. Many voters in the 2022 reshaped district hardly know Hudson since they only had him on the ballot in 2024. (And he has hardly been around since.) Others here will remember specifics and comment on the significance, but in 2022 the 9th hugged counties along the South Carolina border, and not including Cumberland/Ft Bragg. That changed for 2024. At its south, much of Fayetteville was added, as well as counties north to from Moore County (Pinehurst) almost to the Virginia border. Asheboro, Burlington, eastern suburbs of Greensboro Hight Point were new to the 9th/Hudson in 2024. Hudson won, against an unknown Dem, but it was close in the new areas between Chapel Hill and Greensboro. So it isn't like Hudson is an incumbent with multiple election cycles of support. Comment corrections if my memory deceives.
I think what is missing from the 90βs and now are several factors: money, media sources with right wing, Russian, and Israeli influences, and a party planning to impact voter turnout and potentially change votes. I donβt think we will see a landslide.
With respect to Cook, I have to say DUH!!! They have been late to the party and playing catch up all year long. Your analysis of big wave elections is right on though Thomas, and we will see it, including the NC House which actually has the potential to flip in this environment. Enough strong candidates in winnable districts. Have a look Thomas.
As resident whose congressional representation has been flipped flopped between, the 1st, 3rd, 7th & back due to NCGOP General Assembly shenanigans & attempts to stop it. I hope Don & Raymond win & Greg & friends lose ππ½
