Correction: Brenden Jones misled the public
North Carolina House Majority Leader implied inappropriate books are in the school libraries that aren't there.
I need to make a correction to my last post.
Last week, North Carolina House Majority Leader Brenden Jones brought the superintendent and board chair of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools before a House committee and berated them for ignoring the state’s parental rights law. In his grilling of the two men, he pulled out books that he implied were in the elementary school libraries. He read passages from them and threw them over shoulder, saying “Trash!” He accused Superintendent Rodney Trice of not knowing what was going on in his school.
Trice didn’t know those books were in his schools because they aren’t. Jones made the whole thing up for theatrics. The book titles came from a list made by a private group that is not associated with the school. It was recommended for parents who might need to address those issues at home, not for teachers at school.
Brenden Jones is a liar and a bully. He didn’t get those books from the CHCCS libraries. He bought them himself. Or had someone buy them for him. They were little more than props.
Jones abused his power as a legislator. He called people before a committee and intentionally created a false impression. His goal was to cause outrage, not solve problems.
Somebody should file an ethics complaint against Jones. Speaker Hall? Is it okay for your top lieutenant to call people before a committee to make false accusations against them and berate them in public? Are there any consequences for bad behavior in the state house?
Talk about trash.

Politics today is bread and circuses, except there's no bread.
Call him out. He is a liar. Yes, this is abuse of power with intent to cause harm and it demands reprimand and consequence.
