There must be a full investigation by the legislature and full transparency of that process and findings. Such wanton despicable and illegal acts, if found to be true, should not be tolerated without appropriate action taken to arrest and punish the wrongdoer. We would not sanction it broadly in our civic life, much less by our elected officials. If found to be true, Jones should be summarily removed from office and further legal action considered, in order to dissuade anyone else from such conduct. Today’s political discourse, with its false representations, and willfully illegal actions must be identified, called out and punished wherever we find it. It must begin here.
In a functioning democracy, this would be grounds for censure at the every least. But if this rates more than a shrug, I’ll be stunned. If it results in actual consequences, I may need ot get a prescription for digitalis.
Attacks on and lies about schools and libraries over LGBTQ folk seems to be emerging as the major campaign theme in state-level and local elections for 2026.
Is the NC GOP coordinating these attacks as a strategy?
-In Alamance, county commissioner Ed Priola has a bee in his bonnet about the public library. He and other GOP commissioners pushed book banning "Moms for Liberty" members on the library's advisory board. Earlier this year, the advisory board tried to institute a "parental warning" sticker policy on LGBTQ books, even holding special unadvertised meetings to craft and vote on the policy. After a public outcry, the policy passed, but also included other types of material, such as books depicting self-harm.
Priola isn't happy that the sticker policy isn't being instituted fast enough. So now he's complaining about a budget crisis and has spent the past few meetings trying to make a case for severely cutting the library's budget and closing all of the branches in the county except the main library in Burlington. In public meetings, he's accused the head of the libraries, when presenting use and other statistics, of lying to the commissioners. The library's budget is about 2% of county expenditures; it serves around 10% of the county's population and use and the number of patrons has been increasing with the influx of new residents that work in the nearby Triad and Triangle.
-In Rockingham County, the county commissioners dismissed all the members of their Library Advisory Board after the board declined to ban a picture book about a trans boy. The book contains no obscene or inappropriate material.
"Tami Fitzgerald, executive director of the conservative North Carolina Values Coalition, which urged people to attend the Randolph County Commission meeting, said she agreed with the commission’s decision to dissolve the library board.
The book at the center of the controversy, “Call Me Max,” depicts a transgender boy who asks his teacher to call him by his chosen name instead of the name on the attendance sheet.
That “teaches children that their parents may be wrong about their gender, and that their gender is actually whatever they feel it is,” Fitzgerald said. “Planting this lie in a child’s mind at a young age can lead them down a harmful path of social and medical transitioning.”"
Politics today is bread and circuses, except there's no bread.
Call him out. He is a liar. Yes, this is abuse of power with intent to cause harm and it demands reprimand and consequence.

A full investigation would require a Republican Party with ethics. That isn't the Republican Party we have.
Jones is a complete asshole IMHO. He should be removed from office.
Let’s just call Rep Jones what he is: an SOB

The Guardians of Pedophiles (GOP) really have zero shame. Only the very worst people!
Perhaps everyone should try to contact voters in his constituency and tell them what a liar he is.
Curious if these school officials can bring a claim of defamation?
Thanks! Keep keeping us posted.
Given his deliberate misrepresentation of the facts, how could one reasonably place confidence in his business dealings!
