After he leaves office, will Tillis move back to NC or do as other defeated/retired Republicans, who while running professed great love for NC (Dole, Meadows, Cawthorn) move elsewhere?
Tillis is a guy who knows what’s right, and does what’s wrong anyway. We all know it by now. His blustering about Vladimir Putin — while accurate — was nothing more than cover for his vote to confirm Sparkle Pony Hegseth. This isn’t different. Even now, with no election to win next fall, he’s still going to do what’s wrong. We’ve seen this movie (and its sequels) before.
Of course he does. Anyone who wears even a veneer of being on Trump’s side and then crosses or abandons the Fearless (Feckless) Leader will get dozens of randomly-received death threats from oddball Toms, Dicks, & Harrys for months or years. If F(F)L highlights any “betrayal”, multiply the threat count several times over. Sure most of those threats are performative and empty, but one never knows when a real attacker may be just around the corner. While still a U.S. Senator, Mitt Romney noted he spent $5K per month of his own money for personal security for himself and his family. As Romney noted at the time, most members of Congress don’t have the income or liquid assets to readily afford that level of extra expense in order to protect their capacity to vote their consciences. So, they either retire or go along to get along. The freedom to be courageous costs more than most Republican office holders are willing to pay.
As someone who has called Sen Tillis's office repeatedly about Todd Blanche I must admit I was shocked that the former seemed to use the hearing as a way to suggest that the Dems/Biden were no better.
I practiced federal and state criminal defense for years. When Todd Blanche, Trump's former attorney, was the person who "debriefed" Maxwell, my jaw dropped. Talk about a conflict of interest. Blanche was supposed to represent the people/the government and how could he do that when he was just very recently Trump's personal attorney. The duty to clients does not end the day that a "case" is over. The duty to a former client goes on and on.
Then we have the "settlement." Another jaw dropping. How do you settle with broad immunity as "compensation" for a leak. There is absolutely no connection.
Like the government accidently shared your driving record on the internet and now you get immunity for traffic crimes?
What a sham and Blanche's offended looks are Oscar worthy.
The "fund" was always a fake. Trump doesn't care about the supposed victims it was supposed to help (like the My Pillow idiot and the people who invaded Congress). The critical part of the deal was to exempt the Trump family from tax review, ie, he'd never have to file an honest tax return on the billions he's made while in office. The "fund" is to distract everyone from seeing how much more he's stuffed his pockets.
Todd Blanche created this scam "fund" to protect Trump. Of course it won't happen. Blanche seems to have succeeded in protecting billions in grift for the Trumps. This alone is grounds for voting not to confirm.
We all knew the Tillis and Cornyn from TX would cave in to the peer pressure from the Republican Facists. They always have and they always will.
How can a person with absolutely no moral or ethical code have regrets? Regrets he didn’t make more money?
Bad fingers.

After he leaves office, will Tillr
I have written and called but do not feel confident that he will do the right thing on Blanche or Clayton.

Sparkle Pony Hegseth!
I’ve called Tillis so many times. He never does the right thing. I don’t expect him to do it now.
NC residents flood his office with phone calls
I wonder if he fears for his safety.

I think its always a legitimate question. I've wonder that about some other public officials.
A leopard never changes its spots.
