Denying a problem doesn’t make it disappear — it only highlights a level of immaturity that borders on childishness. The GOP has spent years indulging in political theatrics, elevating a figure whose behavior often resembled a cartoon character more than a serious leader. In the process, the country has been dragged into unnecessary conflicts, burdened with rising costs of living, and forced to watch personal enrichment on a scale that would embarrass many authoritarian regimes. It’s long past time to confront these failures honestly and work toward repairing the damage.
I think the NC GOP is whistling past the graveyard, but it all depends on who actually turns out in November. Polling only goes so far. After Trump's win in 2024, I want to make sure I leave nothing on the table.
Here are my suggestions for boosting voter turnout in NC in November:

* The Civic Center focuses on registering (or pre-registration) high school students to vote * Fun Fact: there isn't much difference in voter participation by age group IF you look at registered voters (rather than people eligible to vote)
➡️ Get involved in canvassing by volunteering with a local candidate, your local chapter of Indivisible, your county Democratic party, or a grassroots organization like Down Home NC (https://downhomenc.org/) or States Win (https://stateswin.org/)
I’m with you on this. The NC GOP really is whistling past the graveyard, and November will come down to who actually shows up. Polls can only tell us so much. After what happened in 2024, I’m not taking anything for granted either — every bit of effort matters.
Your list is exactly the kind of groundwork that makes the difference. Registering new voters, writing postcards, sending letters, helping people get IDs, canvassing, and making sure folks have a ride to the polls — that’s the real muscle behind turnout. None of it is glamorous, but all of it moves numbers in the only place that counts: the voter file.
If North Carolina is going to shift, it’ll be because people put in this kind of work now, not because anyone assumes the outcome. This is the right mindset: leave nothing on the table.
Not to mention Jamie Ager and possibly Paul Barringer. As far as the Legislature goes, this is the time for Democrats to win many seats. Both the Senate and House are working hard for it.
Ager will be getting my vote as will Cooper; that is unless I run into a major roadblock voting overseas absentee. Last election was a breeze voting online but since the legislature’s screwing with the boards of elections, that could present a problem this time around. Voting would then become a huge expense and a lot of planning ahead.
