A beautiful tribute--both to Lincoln and to the Declaration of Independence. However, that aspirational Declaration is not our governing document, any more than the Articles of Confederation that followed it. Only the Constitution has been our governing document, at least until a felonious conman managed to supersede it. The Declaration's citing of an unnamed "Creator" has led many Americans to stretch that term into a "Christian nation". The Constitution and its First Amendment placed limits on the entanglement of religion and government. Hopefully our people will once again aspire to become a nation that welcomes, feeds and cares for every one of its inhabitants.

Well put Thomas. But the people have not seen the need to change the government so far.
