Michele Morrow's gift
Bringing the crazy to the NC GOP Senate primary.
This may be my last column as I head into the fray of the holidays. I have gifts to buy, food to prepare, places to go, and people to see. I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday.
In this season to be jolly, Democrats got a gift that should make them quite joyous. Michele Morrow filed to run for U.S. Senate. Her entertainment value is up there with Mark Robinson, though there is a gap between her and America’s favorite Black Nazi.
Morrow, if you remember, was the Republican nominee for Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2024. She made waves when she upset incumbent Superintendent Catherine Truitt in the GOP primary. She got closer to beating Democrat Mo Green than she should have, but she won’t get that close as a top-of-the ticket candidate.
Morrow is utterly unqualified to hold any office. She has done nothing of note except make crazy statements on social media. She called for the execution of Barack Obama and Joe Biden. She warned that Chinese troops were massed on the Canadian border waiting to invade the US when Joe Biden was sworn in. She called public schools “indoctrination centers.” She believes that masses of foreigners were bussed from the Mexican border to the Dollar Tree near her house. You know, a solid reflexion of the modern GOP base and the perfect Republican nominee for U.S. Senate.
I think the Cooper campaign missed an opportunity. When she announced, they sent out press releasing warning of Morrow’s extremism. They should have welcomed her to the race.
If the GOP was a normal political party, Republican frontrunner and Trump pick Michael Whatley could laugh off Morrow. They are anything but normal. They have devolved into a cult of personality run by a gang of thugs, grifters, charlatans, and extremists who spent the weekend debating whether to allow Nazis and anti-semites into their coalition. Vice President JD Vance thinks they should, saying, “I didn’t bring a list of conservatives to denounce or de-platform.”
The Turning Point USA AmericaFest apparently has replaced CPAC as the place for Republican grifters to sell their wares. In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the festival drew a who’s who of conservative influencers and conspiracy theorists. Ben Shapiro came across as the voice of sanity, attacking Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, and other miscreants for their antisemitic views. Steve Bannon, in turn, attacked Shapiro. Morrow, of course, fits right in with the Owens, Carlson, Bannon axis and has appeared on Bannon’s podcast.
Morrow has a clear path to victory in the primary if she can get the resources. Whatley has failed to excite anyone in the GOP and the primary electorate in March should be slightly to the right of the one that nominated Mark Robinson in 2024. Morrow sings the crazy songs that gets MAGA fired up. She just needs to sing them loud enough.
For the people preaching “Be careful what you wish for,” Morrow is unelectable at the top of the ticket in North Carolina. The state is not Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Congressional district which would vote against Jesus Christ if he had a “D” behind his name. North Carolina is a moderate swing state that routinely rejects statewide candidates who are too conservative. Senator Ted Budd is the only modern exception to that rule and he won a narrow victory in a strong Republican year.
So let’s go into 2026 cheering for Michele Morrow. Send her some money if you get a chance. If she could get the resources, she could prove to be a giant killer in the GOP primary. It would kick off the year with a bang.

What an embarrassment to this country that one party scrapes from the bottom of the port-a-potty.
Morrow is the idiot that attended AND filmed her attendance at the Jan 6 riot! Let's remember this!
