I'm a Republican and I wouldn't vote for her. My perspective-by jumping in the race after no prep, almost no money and little support, she's going to split the vote in favor of Whatley (I won't vote for him either). What's embarrassing about republicans is their lack of leadership and strategy to vet and prepare qualified candidates. *And* when there is a qualified candidate, they do not support them, they choose a cronie. Even the NCGOP Chair is a Whatley crony NOT from North Carolina, but from Utah. He was a Mitt Romney guy.
On the subject of AmericaFest, which I have attended for six years, it is not replacing CPAC. They have different audiences and different fundraising strategies. You will see college age voters at CPAC, but not nearly what you will see at AmericaFest.
I read and observe both sides. There's something to be said for honest reviews and open debate, even with people you don't agree with, which is exactly why I admired Charlie Kirk and I read this substack.
I think a major mistake Democrats made in earlier campaigns was backing crazy MAGA Republicans in primaries, hoping they would knock out normie Republicans and let Democrats coast to victory in the general. Sometimes the crazies can win! (Hello, Mark Harris.) Morrow probably is unelectable statewide, but nothing is certain. If she’s wants to amass a war chest from nutcases, let her. Force Whatley to spend money on a primary that can’t be used in the general. Hope that, say, Steve Bannon endorses her!
But it’s hypocritical to call someone a mortal threat to democracy (she could be) and then encourage her to win. That’s what campaign contributions do.
If Morrow does knock out Whatley in the primary we can officially declare the Trump dynasty if not dead, at least on life support and unlikely to recover. Whatley has the money, and the connections and the highly coveted Trump endorsement that *should* make him a lock for the nomination. If that *doesn’t* happen? Budd better watch his ass in 2028. And the legislature in 2026? Could we possibly hope?

Morrow is the idiot that attended AND filmed her attendance at the Jan 6 riot! Let's remember this!

To your point, Thomas, as you noted — Morrow defeated a very normie Republican and almost won!

What an embarrassment to this country that one party scrapes from the bottom of the port-a-potty.
