Weird reading this today. Because just yesterday on my couple of errands, requiring finding parking places and going into a market and after that two stores, I noted masks here or there in three different parking lots. Of course these masks--simply detritus we see post COVID. Trash left behind. Still the sight of at least several facial coverings ground into asphalt pavement registered. I keep masks with me--no big deal. And use if necessary. At the nail spa I go to--a small establishment--quite clean and without chemical stench that most nail places have--the nail technicians who work here always wear a clean mask and proper gloves. I would also in their position. And at the last quite clinical massage I received, the massage therapist wore a mask while she worked. I'm hoping this latest GOP attempt to prevent mask wearing is just as you say--virtue signaling and a chance to show out in another symbolic way the GOP disdain for truths about the last pandemic. Not that it will be our "last." It's the same mindset of MAGA hooligans who spend time and money to go to pathetic rallies or gather at busy intersections and wave around the stupidity that goes with such behavior. Only in this case, these are legislators--people who make laws. Heaven forbid this most recent legislative stunt gains traction. Sure would make enforcement a mess. I'd hate to see some of our most vulnerable citizens be caught wearing a mask and get trapped in the legal system and end up with a criminal record. Versions of stupidity such as the take the absurd and square it.
