With Kennedy, Gabbard and Patel appearing before senate committees this week, knowing that all 3 are unfit, unqualified and dangerous, how will our NC senators Tillis and Budd vote? In his first few days as Secretary of Defense, we are seeing Hegseth politicizing the Department of Defense. Thanks, Thom Tillis. Elections have consequences. 2026 is the year we will decrease the republican majority in the senate by one seat, replacing Tillis with a Democrat.

33 senator up in 2026; 20 Republicans & 13 Democrats. I like our chances especially if the Gov runs against him.

Hopefully, rumors that Governor Cooper will jump into the race will prove true. He's demonstrated that he can win statewide office.

Even better, if he can/does run, that he is honest and ethical -- the antitheses of Thom Tillis and essentially all of the GOP in North Carolina! I lived there for a long time, and Tillis was a real nemesis to many of his "constituents."

Very true AND very important. But I have been frustrated for years that we keep nominating Dems to run for the US Senate who end up losing!!

We don’t have to wonder how they will vote, upon emailing both of them to vote against the nominees, form letter responses received that they are on board with “draining the swamp” going back to #45’s verbiage. We must elect a Dem senator in 2026. I hope the Republicans primary Tillis!

And now he has a Primary challenger, Andy Nilsson from Winston-Salem, an educator and newly a full -MAGA supporter of Trump. What a surprise!

Democrats need to force Republicans to OWN everything they are doing starting by blocking and voting NO on ALL Trump nominated Cabinet nominees. A 99-0 Senate conformation vote for Rubio has worked out so terrifically, right??

Someone needs to cough up some cash and convince Mark Robinson to make an independent third-party run for Tillis's Senate seat.

I think Tillis is hoping for several or more challengers, so no one challenger emerges as the one who could actually win the primary.

Biggest dissappointment for me are Tim Kaine and Ellisa Slotkin. An to hell with the other five.

I recall a line from Clancy’s "In Search of Red October": “I am a politician which means I am a liar and a crook. When I am not kissing babies, I am stealing their lollipops.” This perfectly encapsulates Thom Tillis. His initial opposition to Pete Hegseth's nomination as Secretary of Defense, citing Hegseth's lack of qualifications and allegations of misconduct, was merely a facade to project integrity. Tillis caved, fearing backlash from the MAGA faction. His lack of moral fiber led him to betray Hegseth’s sister-in-law, exposing her to attacks. Tillis is a moral coward who cannot be trusted and will be manipulated by Trump and his cronies. This guy North Carolina represents this state in Congress. Tillis is what this state does not need, representing our interests, especially, with this herculean task of rebuilding the western part of this state following a major storm. He cannot be trusted to put NC first, before his fear of being primaried by Trump and his marry little band

We need a person in that office who stands up for NC.

Senators Tillis and Budd, nor my Rep in the House, Virginia Foxx, represent me or my beliefs & values. The extreme germandering in North Carolina is the reason they were elected after election map districts were gerrymandered and made no sense, except for the Rs to choose their voters rather than the other way around. I am ashamed of my US Congressional representatives. I wrote Tillis & Budd several times about some of the worst Cabinet nominees & received form letters back. I won't trust a word they say as they do not put our country or Constitution over their political ambitions. 😡😡😡

The actions of these representatives are raising ethical concerns. Proposals to amend the 14th Amendment through non-constitutional methods and attacks on General Mark Milley's reputation highlight the need to uphold democratic principles and respect for those who safeguard our nation. As midterm elections are near, it is crucial to recognize that harmful actions often lead to consequences. Trump and his associates may face legal repercussions.

2 years is a long way away & I hate to think of all the irreparable damage that can occur before then. And, we've seen just how much difference "legal repercussions " make for POTUS. Plus, we can no longer trust that the judiciary will honor their responsibilities, especially the SCOTUS. The Rs in Congress need to fulfill their responsibilities & save our country. For that to be accomplished, every constituent needs to contact their local, state & US Congressional Representative s & Senators, as re-election is what their priority is for most of them.

Donna, what else can we do? We are the adults in the room. Resorting to violence is Trump's domain, along with his band of misfits. I must disagree with your view on the court system. The lower courts have been quite responsive to litigation against Trump's antics, adhering to the law. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court is the exception, with many Republican appointees leaning towards political solutions rather than constitutional ones.

I agree with you. I'm just so frustrated, angry & upset. I don't condone violence. I shouldn't have generalized about the judicial system like I did. The R partisan SCOTUS Justices, and judges like Aileen Cannon & the TX judges that attorneys judge-shop for are the ones I was referring to, and the one who is trying to take away NC Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs' re-election she won by trying to have 60,000 votes taken away from her even though 3 recounts demonstratedthat she won fairly.

The Justice Department made several errors in handling post-election actions. Filing the classified documents case in Florida, rather than DC where the crime occurred, was the first mistake. While hindsight is always 20/20, it is crucial not to repeat the same mistakes.

As Tom pointed out, playing fair with these individuals is counterproductive. When the midterms bring a new face to the legislature, act swiftly. Impeach, impeach, and impeach, followed by convictions in the Senate.

Taking down these demagogues one by one is the only language they seem to understand. Trump sent a clear message that violence in his name is acceptable; we will send a clear message that criminal behavior has consequences in the civilized world.

On MAGA issues, we functionally have a 50-50 Senate, with Murkowski, Collins, and McConnell (thanks, but four years too late, Mitch!) voting with Democrats against Trump. The question remains which issues can get another Republican to flip. Maybe none. Vance is going to live in Senate chambers.

Tillis is wanting it both ways, should he stand up against a nominee who is bound to screw up in a very dangerous way, or knowing he has trouble ahead at home in the 2026 cycle fall in line. I don't think this will help him in NC.

But, it will take all the Ds getting out & voting. We can't take anything for granted. We know the Rs will continue doing everything they can think of, legal or not, to remove as many of our voting rights as they can. They have no memory of what it is like to win an election fairly.

“Ever again?” I never believed anything Thom Tillis said if by implication it would ever help anyone but his oligarch friends or his big scale financial backers. Of course he’s a coward with no moral compass. He’s always been that way. A Rapeubliscam whose only interest is in getting elected. It’ll be mildly interesting to watch how long and how often he’s going to kiss Chump’s ass for the next 4 years to try to get back into Chump’s favor.

The question is this: does the GOP have an intrinsic disposition toward cowardice? Yes, because the litmus test for joining the club is denying climate change which means that you are compelled to swallow an enormous lie. This is the kernel of bad faith at the center of the GOP.

It is my hope that you will continue to call out the brazen cowardice of Thom Tills. He shamelessly placed this woman on the chopping block and walked the fvck away!!! Keep calling him out and I hope that he receives from Trump exactly what he thought voting for Hegseth would allow him to avoid!

I sent he and Budd no nonsense letters on the Hegseth issue knowing full well they wouldn’t be read. Tillis is up for reelection in 2026, if in fact the 🍆🍠 doesn’t EO that out of existence. I will do everything I can to take him out if given half a chance. With the way things are going, they will have to cancel midterms with how they are dealing doom and death to everyone under them.

You will never get a substantive response from Thom Tillis's office/staff (certainly not him). I tried one some years back and a question (maybe about environment or some such), and the only "response" I got was a form letter from an aide thanking me for writing. Hopeless, I fear, to expect anything else from that office.
