What about Ted Budd? He should be called out as a coward also. Both of our U.S. senators are sitting on their hands, not just Tillis.

Ted Budd is MAGA and apparently proud of it. He doesn't make toothless statements like Tillis pretending to be a moderate Republican who is standing up for his constitutents. Budd is equally bad in terms of his record, but he just less of a hypocrite since he doesn't even try to make people think he's standing up to Trump.

Plus Tillis is up for re-election in 2026. For anyone who is interested in helping with registering new voters in NC, Field Team 6 (www.fieldteam6.org) has an ongoing postcard campaign to register blue and purple voters in NC. They are using Tillis' record of sitting on his hands as the hook for this campaign.

Budd does need to be called out. He’s not up for reelection yet, but we need to keep his record in the news. He must be held accountable to the people of North Carolina. MAGA is no excuse for abandoning the people of the state who elected him.

Tillis ought to be ashamed.

We need to talk more about the purpose of taxes. Oliver Wendell Holmes paraphrase: paying taxes is what civilized country does.

Tax revenue doesn’t belong to Donald Trump. There no compelling reason ultra wealthy shouldn’t pay taxes.

I want to help victims of hurricanes, tornadoes, fire other disasters.

I want free lunches for school children, affordable tuition.

Healthcare, research.

Happy 7 days post surgery for total hip replacement. It’s been kinda rough with pain, nausea, going unconscious 3 or more times, and all that goes with the territory. And so worth it. As I write this now my caregiver is sleeping 💤 in other room. Do not want to wake up Tash till appointed time which is 30 minutes from now. I can handle the pain for 30 more minutes, but I needed distraction so I responded to the response in rap form to take my mind away from pain. It’s a form of play so I won’t wake Tasha till time. She’s been too good. Connie my dear, sweet, beautiful, smart baby sister says to me, “Lu, do not wake up Tasha all night long during her shift or she might leave us, and we can afford to pay for night shift caregiver but not two. So I play words till time to text Tasha and wake her up from sleep 💤 to come and help me. Pain is trickster friend. If you get my drift, good. If not, that’s OK too.

LEH day #7 hallelujah. Brother Bill and Joanne come to visit later today. I can hardly wait!

I recently spoke with someone who passionately believes that Trump genuinely prioritizes the interests of people like him. He even stated, "If I had the financial means, I would gladly give Trump a million dollars just to have dinner with him." This viewpoint seems oblivious to the larger reality at play. Trump has effectively turned the presidency into a revenue-generating venture, selling cryptocurrency, firearms, and his personal brand while securing tax cuts that disproportionately benefit the wealthy.

Neither he nor his inner circle of profiteers have any genuine interest in addressing the country's pressing needs. Providing assistance for those who have lost their homes or businesses takes a backseat to reducing government expenditures to facilitate greater tax cuts for fat cats.

Meanwhile, Trump has no qualms about using millions of taxpayer dollars to fund Air Force One flights across the Middle East, to advance his family's business endeavors or accepting 400 dollar gifts as a down payment for future favors. Facts, mean nothing to these folks, in their minds, Trump is a second coming. Perhaps there will be a rude awaking when they find themselves living in a tent at a state park.

Yep. Gerrymandered at home and neutered representation in Washington. Thankful for a Democratic AG. The thought of Dan Bishop lapping up Doge(Trump’s) terminating healthcare, firing gov. employees, cancelling gov. contracts, illegally accessing gov. data systems…… would just be too much for me. Jeff Jackson IS doing his job.

Edwards has been a fraud for a long long time. Edwards once earned respect for publicly pushing back against the lies that Trump was telling, but when Trump showed up as you note he was there to kiss up, even smiling on camera as Trump repeated his lies about FEMA being absent. Once he is willing to pose on camera and lie about "keeping promises" for a man whose lies put people at risk I knew he would never ever do anything of value again.

Like Ted Budd he is an utterly lost cause and a stain on his constituents.

We have been through hell and now they’re just trying to give us more hell. The coward sellout Republicans deserve to lose their job. They are not working for us!!! 🤬🤬😡😡

Doug, your comments reflect the mindset of many NC citizens living in the western region. With ALL funds cancelled for removing storm debris - funds that had been promised by trump - will this move the political needle in the 2026 mid-term elections?

Mary, yet another weather-related crisis looms, many communities across NC may be once again struggling to survive and rebuild. In times like these, leadership should be focused on unity and decisive action—but instead, we see a persistent pattern of self-indulgence and division. The misuse of Air Force One as a tool for personal business interests operating the White house as corporate central for a Crypto coin sales operation must end. Taxpayer dollars should serve the public good, not private agendas.

If we fail to act in the upcoming midterms, the cycle of favoritism and inequality will continue, enriching a select few while leaving countless others behind. This nation was not founded on royalty or inherited privilege; it was built on the fundamental belief that all are created equal and endowed with inalienable rights. We are not here to cater to the elite but to uphold justice, fairness, and accountability for all.

Our taxes should fuel progress, not serve the interests of a privileged few. It is time to demand leadership that prioritizes the people over personal gain.

Where is Virginia Fox? She, too, represents counties that received major damage. Republicans in NC have no representation in the state house or DC.

New Term: The Financial Times introduces "TACO"—Trump Always Chickens Out—a phrase highlighting a recurring pattern in his behavior. This naturally leads to a corollary: Trump Always Throws His Friends Under the Bus. As time passes, those who once supported him may find themselves voted out of office. This shift could occur as early as next year, following the midterms. Facing political realities, the remaining Republicans in Congress—driven by self-preservation—may ultimately refuse to shield him from impeachment.
