He’s still mostly a “Who he?” candidate, whose only real assets are financial backing by the GOP establishment and a Trump endorsement. You know who else had both of those things working for him? Phil Berger. Yeah that race was close — but Berger also had an incumbency that dated to the end of the last Ice Age, and this was in a Republic *primary*. If there’s any lesson to take from that, it’s that dropping the Mother of all Money Bombs on a race you should be winning handily after you’ve kissed the ring to get Metamucillini’s endorsement does not make you a lock.
