I do not believe Vice President Harris will be leading the Democratic ticket. I believe President Harris will be running for reelection with a new Vice President at her side. I’d like that person to be Pete Buttigieg.

I like and respect Joe Biden; have since first meeting him in 1987. But the Joe Biden who has been the most successful President since FDR is not the man who now sits in the Oval Office.

We have to ask ourselves if President Biden would respond to a 3 AM phone call announcing that China was invading Taiwan, or that North Korean troops were crossing the DMV, or that Russian tanks were massing at Poland’s border.

It’s a dangerous world and our adversaries -as well as our allies - must be watching President Biden and wondering if he’ll be able to respond quickly and competently to a crisis.

Joe Biden ran in 2016 promising to be a transitional president who’d usher in a new generation of Democratic leadership. I think President Biden will keep his promise in the next few weeks.

Oh so well said Thom! I am feeling a little more reassured. I believe there is huge population of silent voters in America and I know many. Almost all of them would vote for anybody but Trump. But seeing poor President Biden lately has been stunning. From your mouth to God's ears!

Personally, I’d like to see Biden hand off to Harris. And in so doing make clear her many attributes. And be forthcoming in public appearances about why he’s passing the mantle. Since the “debate” that was clearly a TV spectacle—no authentic debate characteristics—, Biden looks and sounds like a person exhausted…. To seize this moment, I’d like to see this statesperson ACT like the true accomplished leader he is. If hubris remains his roadblock, that’s just sad. And psychological telling. If anyone can address current SCOTUS bad faith moves, it’s a former tough attorney general like Harris. Something magnificent can come out of current turmoil if Biden(s) can get out of their own way and usher in a better ballot. Private and collective prayer necessary. Without ceasing. PEACE. LEH

Say what you want about President Biden. But I get really aggravated with critics who say he can't defeat Trump. Hello! He is the only person on the planet who has defeated this horrible human being. Joe Biden led this country trhough a generational pandemic and helped heal our nation after four years of Trump. His presidency is one of three transformative administrations in my 80 years, the others being FDR and LBJ.

Yet many people are throwing him under the bus.

I know how it is to be in one's 80s. Each of us who made it this far is different. Yes, pride and ego get involved in whether to step away from responsibilities. But on the other side of the ledger is the fact that our country long has had a fixation with "youth." There is something to be said for experience, and no public fiigure has the experience that Joe Biden does.

Beyond all of this, he arguably has the highest character of any national public figure, and character, especially in wake of the disastrous Supreme Court ruling on immunity, clearly is the main requiirement for the presidency.

I hope President Biden manages to survive the lynch mob forming to force him out. I also hope he is perceptive enough to step aside if he coess to the realization he can no longer do the job as presdient.

Whether he survives as the Democratic nominee or not, Americans of our generation will do unredeemable harm by returning Trump to the White House. How anyone could vote for him is beyond rationaity and decency. This election is about character and democracy. Trump brings neither to the race. Joe Biden brings both.

Kamala Harris is the natural successor to Joe. That was clear when he maned her VP. Even better than recommending she be the Dem candidate would be for Joe to step down now so she runs as an incumbent.

If Joe decides to stay on the ticket, I would support him mightily. Bill Nasso makes strong case for Joe’s presidency.

Well done Thomas. I don't see how the Democrats can move on gracefully from Harris. I personally would prefer a Witmer/Booker ticket which would have some built in advantages, as they have been vetted and have name recognition that others being mentioned do not. Trump continues daily to show his ignorance and true nature and the election was always going to be about him, and should be.

Every Democrat needs to pull together to get the white male vote that Bill Clinton and Joe Biden got while Hillary Clinton couldn't. The results are in our hands not the ticket.
