The Preamble

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

    Most GOP loyalists do not read this part of the constitution. What understanding they have of the US Constitution comes to them from the lips of folks who stand to profit from maintaining specific principles and tax legislation that will insure their existence in perpetuity. It is almost certain they read, or it was read to them the second amendment which allowed them to worship a firearm and the misguided belief in the powers it bestowed on them by the mere possession of firearms over their fellow human beings.
    It may never occur to those who take the time to read the preamble that these passages were written at a time in our history when another country was in charge and engaging in less than humane practices. Taxes designed to keep them poor and have very few if any representation in the governing powers. We were a pawn in the hands of a king that had only one objective personal power. He even decided one day that he was god’s representative on earth and could make up what a rule he found useful to further his objectives in life. Sound familiar? Well, here is a clue, if the king did not like the results of something, he just threw it out. The will of the people was of little concern. Only his own twisted notions of reality mattered.
